The End of the Legacy of Hugo Chavez.

On July 30, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro held a vote to elect members of a National Constitutional Assembly who will re-write the 1999 Constitution, a keystone of Hugo Chavez’s legacy.

As tensions continue to grow in a nation crippled by one of the worst economic and humanitarian crises in the Western Hemisphere, residents of Venezuela’s poorest communities – historically known as Chavismo strongholds – grapple with Maduro’s desire for a new constitution, together with widespread objection from people across all political spectrums.
