Venezuela’s Hunger

Mass food shortages, an inflation rate of 700 percent, and an alarming child malnourishment rate have subjected Venezuelan citizens to one of the worst humanitarian crises in the Western Hemisphere. In this episode, we speak to residents from Catia and 23 de Enero about the number one issue on every Venezuelans’ mind: hunger.

Mileidi Gonzalez struggles to give her children a proper nutrition as they have begun to exhibit signs of severe malnourishment, while Pablo Rivero must ration the government-subsidized grocery bag among his five family members.

As food shortages and the economic crisis continues to worsen, Venezuelans take to the streets in protest and plead to the international community to address this dire humanitarian emergency.

This is the third and last episode of the documentary series produced by Valentina Pereda and IQ Latino on the Venezuelan crisis.
